Drug & Alcohol Testing
Full-service drug and alcohol testing for employers of all sizes. From pre-employment screens to DOT-regulated testing programs, Hybrid Health Clinics delivers accurate results with strict chain-of-custody compliance.
Testing Types and Protocols
Hybrid Health Clinics administers drug and alcohol testing under both DOT-regulated and non-DOT employer protocols. Each type of test follows strict procedural guidelines to ensure legally defensible results that stand up to challenge.
We perform the following categories of testing:
- Pre-employment testing — screen candidates before extending a job offer, establishing a drug-free baseline for your workforce
- Random testing — unannounced selections from your employee pool, conducted on a schedule that meets DOT or company policy requirements
- Post-accident testing — rapid screening following workplace incidents to determine whether substance use was a contributing factor
- Reasonable suspicion testing — testing triggered by trained supervisor observation of behavior, appearance, or performance consistent with substance impairment
- Return-to-duty testing — required negative test before an employee who previously tested positive or refused a test can resume safety-sensitive duties
- Follow-up testing — ongoing, unannounced testing as directed by a Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) following a return-to-duty clearance
Testing Methods and Specimens
We offer multiple specimen collection methods to meet the specific requirements of your testing program. Each method has distinct advantages depending on your detection window needs, regulatory obligations, and budget.
Urine Drug Screens
The standard for both DOT and most non-DOT programs. Urine screens detect recent substance use within a window of approximately two to seven days for most substances. DOT-regulated urine panels test for marijuana, cocaine, opioids, amphetamines, and phencyclidine (PCP). Expanded non-DOT panels can include additional substances such as benzodiazepines, barbiturates, and synthetic opioids.
Breath Alcohol Testing (BAT)
Conducted using DOT-approved evidential breath testing devices operated by certified Breath Alcohol Technicians. Results are immediate. A screening test result of 0.02 or higher triggers a confirmation test, with results of 0.04 or above constituting a DOT violation for safety-sensitive employees.
Hair Follicle Testing
Provides an extended detection window of up to 90 days, making it a powerful tool for identifying patterns of substance use that might be missed by urine testing alone. Hair testing is available for non-DOT programs and is increasingly popular for pre-employment and random testing.
All collections follow strict chain-of-custody procedures. Specimens are sealed, documented, and transported to SAMHSA-certified laboratories for analysis. Results are reviewed by a licensed Medical Review Officer (MRO) who contacts donors with positive results to rule out legitimate medical explanations before reporting to the employer.
Employer Account Services
Setting up a drug and alcohol testing account with Hybrid Health Clinics is designed to be straightforward and scalable. Whether you are a small business running occasional pre-employment screens or a large enterprise with DOT-regulated random testing pools, we build a program that matches your operational needs.
Employer account features include:
- Dedicated account coordinator for scheduling and compliance questions
- Electronic chain-of-custody forms and results reporting
- Random selection management for DOT and non-DOT pools
- MRO services included with all laboratory-confirmed tests
- After-hours collection availability for post-accident and reasonable suspicion needs
- On-site collection services for large-scale testing events
- Consortium and third-party administrator (C/TPA) support for owner-operators and small fleets
Rapid results are available for point-of-care screening tests, with negative screens typically reported within minutes. Laboratory-confirmed results are generally available within two to three business days. We understand that delays in drug testing delay your hiring process, so turnaround time is a priority.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between DOT and non-DOT drug testing?
DOT drug testing follows strict federal protocols established by the Department of Transportation, including a specific five-panel urine test and defined procedures for collection, laboratory analysis, and MRO review. Non-DOT testing is governed by employer policy and state law, allowing more flexibility in panel selection and specimen type.
How quickly can we get drug test results?
Rapid point-of-care urine screens produce negative results in minutes. If a specimen screens positive or requires laboratory confirmation, results are typically available within two to three business days. Breath alcohol results are immediate.
Do you offer on-site drug testing at our workplace?
Yes. Our mobile collection teams can conduct drug and alcohol testing at your job site, office, or any other suitable location. On-site testing is ideal for random testing events, post-accident situations, or large-scale pre-employment screenings that would overwhelm your local clinic capacity.
What happens if an employee has a positive drug test?
All positive results are reviewed by a licensed Medical Review Officer (MRO) who contacts the donor to determine whether there is a legitimate medical explanation, such as a valid prescription. If the MRO confirms the result as positive, it is reported to the designated employer representative according to your program's protocols.
Can owner-operators and small fleets use your services?
Absolutely. We provide consortium and third-party administrator services for owner-operators and small fleets that need to meet DOT random testing requirements but do not have enough employees to maintain their own testing pool. Contact us for consortium enrollment details.
